We’re in that lull between the World Series and the Winter Meetings, so it’s a bit quiet out there (well, other than rampant speculation about where people will land, and articles ridiculing the Phillies for the Byrd and Ruiz deals). But there is still some pretty good analysis going on right now that I’ve certainly found interesting. Here’s what I’ve read recently that I thought I’d share:
- Harry Pavlidis of Baseball Prospectus, with James Wagner of WaPo, takes a look at Bryce Harper’s troubles vs LHP
- An interesting study of why Catcher’s arm strength is an overrated commodity
- Craig Goldstein wrote an article about the NL East and had some interesting this to say about the Nats
- Federal Baseball has some good quotes from Matt Williams as well as a link to Thom Loverro and Tim Shover’s new weekly baseball show
- The Most Startling Trend in Baseball
- On Branch Rickey and the origin of the farm system
- The 150 most watchable games of 2013 (the top Nats game on the list – The 15 inning 8-7 win over Atlanta on 8/17)
- Finally, and of extreme importance… I just got this hat, and yes, it’s a real team.
